Vaarso the success story…
In the olden times, if the wind was favorable at sea, there was great rejoicement among the crew. This year, 2009, we the team at Vaarso by Raheel Patel met with an astonishing amount of favorable conditions like- success, good wishes, visits from over 40,000 people from all over the city, country and the globe! So overwhelming was the response that it almost felt like the old city and the urban hearts had finally found a bridge, called Vaarso. An astounding number of almost 40,000 people witnessed a wondrous spectacle of tradition, heritage, festivity which charged the atmosphere of the Jethabhai sheth ni haveli, dhobini pole, desai ni pole, jethabhai ni pole, sutharvado. With treats like Bhungal Bhajans, Bhavais, Museum visits, havelis, all at one place one really didn’t know what to ask for more! If one helping of tradition served in bowl was too less for the audience, Vaarso had an infinite amount of servings to offer to each one’s ‘senses’ with its vibrant variety! Sprinkled with art and artists, the entire festival revolved around a spirit of preserving not only the ancient structures but also the traditional values we have inherited from our city and ancestors.
